Make the Transition from Student to Lawyer
Our Summer Associate Program gives law students like you the chance to see what it’s really like to work at K&L Gates.
You’ll get real-life experience on diverse projects typically seen by new associates. You’ll be invited to accompany our lawyers to court appearances, arbitrations, depositions, trials, client meetings and other key events as they work on a broad range of projects. And you’ll possibly get a foot in the door for an entry-level position with the firm.
As a Summer Associate, you’ll receive regular formal and informal feedback on your ongoing performance and developmental progress. You’ll also have the opportunity to interact with the firm’s partners and associates during informal social activities.
We’re committed to providing you with the tools to succeed. Summer Associates have the opportunity to:
Explore and define interests. You’ll gain exposure to our full range of practice areas, so you can make informed decisions about your career path. The opportunities here at K&L Gates are endless, and we invite you to accept the complex challenges that our diverse clients bring to us.
Make significant contributions. You’ll assume real responsibility on complex and sophisticated legal matters early in your career. Starting on your first day, you’ll be challenged with important matters that require creative thinking and innovative solutions.
Learn from exceptional lawyers. In addition to your own talent and energy, your progress depends on the lawyers with whom you work, the opportunities you receive in your early years as an associate, and your professional training. Our lawyers will be your mentors, your teachers, your colleagues, and your friends.
Make a difference in the community. Our lawyers serve their communities in a myriad of ways, including pro bono work, professional and academic activities, and volunteering through local charitable and nonprofit organizations.
