K&L Gates’ Paris office was established as our second in Continental Europe. In addition to being France’s capital and its largest city, Paris is also the center for all professional services including legal services. Our lawyers are fluent in French and English, have significant international experience and, in many cases, US and European Union as well as French legal qualifications.
The Paris office has a national and international practice. Our main practice areas are corporate/M&A, private equity, litigation and arbitration, real estate, tax, IP/IT, labor and employment and commercial.
The corporate practice encompasses private and public mergers and acquisitions and private equity as well as company law matters and a wide range of commercial contracts. The group focuses on transactional work in a variety of industries, including the technology, media, and healthcare sectors. Clients include French and international public and private businesses, private equity funds and banks. Our lawyers have regular experience in cross-border deals and have acted for numerous US-based companies.
The litigation and arbitration practice covers domestic and international disputes. The team has experience of French domestic procedures as well as many forms of international arbitration including ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID. Clients include private and public sector entities across a range of industries and with a strong international flavor.
The real estate practice focuses on transactions for international and national businesses acquiring or leasing sites throughout France, as well as development work and joint ventures, construction, and real estate litigation.
K&L Gates’ tax practice advises financial institutions and funds, international corporations, and individuals on French and international tax-related matters, including domestic and cross-border asset financings and securitizations, capital investment ventures, and the establishment of tax-efficient structures in conjunction with mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, acquisition financings, and leveraged buyouts.
The Paris IP/IT practice has wide-ranging experience in this area, with a particular focus on trademarks, e-business, data protection and outsourcing. The team advises clients across many sectors on business critical issues such as internet and website protection, privacy and content.
With distinctive experience in labor and employment relations within French and foreign companies, listed or unlisted, of various sizes, our Paris labor team advises and assists its clients with a concrete and pragmatic approach. Our experience includes advising on re-dundancy plans, compensation and benefits policies, health and safety issues, white collar litigation, employee shareholding or expatriation and immigration questions.
