- Global law firm K&L Gates LLP
welcomes Yasho Lahiri as an asset management and investment funds partner in the New York office. He arrives at K&L Gates from DLA Piper, and is the second new partner to join the firm’s New York office this week, following yesterday’s announcement of corporate partner Steven M. Olenick
Lahiri focuses his practice on the representation of fund sponsors, including private equity, credit, infrastructure, venture capital, and hedge funds in the United States and globally. He advises clients on a range of fund issues comprising structuring and formation, seed capital arrangements, acquisitions of new investment strategies, joint ventures, distribution agreements, and exits through sales to strategic buyers, as well as on funds in such areas as renewable energy, clean technology, and insurance. In addition, he has represented sponsors of several cutting-edge products, such as the first private fund established to own “names” in the Lloyds of London insurance market and the first investment vehicle to allow U.S. retail investors to participate in carbon credit investments.
He also represents institutional investors in establishing and managing their relationships with the sponsors of alternative investment products. His investor side clients have included sovereign wealth funds, state pension funds, insurance companies, reinsurers, family offices and corporate pension plans.
From 2001 to 2005, Lahiri served as general counsel to investment fund management company Quantitative Financial Strategies, Inc.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Yasho to K&L Gates and our asset management and investment funds practice,” said Michael Caccese, chairman of K&L Gates’ management committee and a leader of the firm’s financial services practice area. “His impressive experience and practice covers the entire waterfront of issues faced by fund managers and sponsors; his addition will provide an immense benefit to our current and future fund clients.”
John A. Bicks, managing partner of K&L Gates’ New York office, commented: “Yasho brings a well-honed and respected practice to the firm, further expanding our capabilities in the fund sponsor space in the U.S. and globally. We’re excited to welcome him to the firm and continue the growth of the New York office.”
Along with Olenick, Lahiri’s arrival also follows the additions of aviation finance partner Elizabeth Evans
to the New York office in late 2019 and fellow asset management and investment funds counsel David C. Owen
in the San Francisco office in early January.
