James E. Fajkowski

James Fajkowski’s practice focuses on patent portfolio development and intellectual property transactions. He routinely advises on M&A transactions involving software, mobile devices, medical devices, cloud computing, and other technologies. In addition, he has experience litigating patent infringement disputes from both the plaintiff and defendant perspective.

James has experience with all facets of patent prosecution and patent portfolio development. His practice focuses on software applications for various industries including mobile and communication device companies, financial services providers, medical device companies, and universities. He has experience patenting payment systems, electrophoretic display technology such as electronic inks, optical and laser systems, robotic systems, engines, gaming systems, renewable energy systems, imaging technologies, computer hardware and semiconductor designs.

James’s transactional practice includes intellectual property and software licensing, patent sales and purchases, intellectual property due diligence, open source analysis, invalidity assessments and freedom to operate investigations. James also has extensive experience in opinion work concerning validity issues and non-infringement issues.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, James was an associate at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP.
