Eric Matava is an associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. His practice is concentrated on representing and advising health systems, hospitals, and physician practices in a variety of regulatory, transactional and litigation matters, including:

  • compliance with federal and state fraud and abuse laws, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) and state privacy laws, licensure requirements, corporate practice of medicine issues, and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rules;
  • due diligence in health care mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations;
  • state and federal regulatory and government affairs.

Mr. Matava is also involved with advocacy and policy development, with a focus on the fields of health care and education. As a local elected official, he has extensive experience with municipal law and with navigating the various channels of government.
He has an active pro bono practice, representing victims of domestic violence seeking Protection from Abuse (“PFA”) orders in Allegheny County and Indiana County. He is also a member of the firm’s Cyber Civil Rights Legal Project and assists victims of “revenge porn” with takedowns and related litigation.
