Founded in 1979, the Austin office has grown into a well-established office with strong ties to the State Capitol. Austin is home to our Texas public policy group, which handles various legislative matters, including lobbying and legislative counseling, for a multitude of clients. Key practices include legislative and administrative policy, commercial disputes, intellectual property litigation, financial services litigation, environmental and immigration.

The Austin office litigation group represents local, regional, national and multinational clients in a wide variety of complex commercial, immigration and intellectual property litigation matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts, in arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings and in administrative proceedings. Our group has experience handling business dispute litigation, corporate and investment-based immigration matters, patent, trademark and copyright infringement litigation, class and mass action litigation, director and officer liability litigation, shareholder and securities litigation, employment litigation, bankruptcy-related litigation, construction litigation, product liability litigation and government and self-regulatory organization investigations.

Our Austin-based environmental practitioners have decades of experience representing clients in regulatory counseling, strategic permitting, litigation, legislative matters, rulemaking, criminal investigations, corporate crises, civil enforcement, contaminated site remediation, water rights and business transactions. We assist clients in resolving issues arising in all media and under every major environmental statute and regulatory program. We have built strong relationships with federal and state regulatory authorities including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the Texas Railroad Commission, Texas Department of Transportation and Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

In addition, Austin’s corporate practice maintains a strong focus on investment fund formation, as well as private equity partnerships and joint ventures, including advising clients on the provision of investment advice, securities and other regulatory matters. Our experience ranges from representing small start-ups to multi-billion dollar entities.
